Will the world end in 9 days time?
When they switch on the Hadron collider, the earth could dissappear into a black hole in less than a second.
Scientists don't know what will happen.
... I was just wondering if I should cancel my appointment with my hairdresser?

lol... that wont happen...
they already tried using a particle accelerator to find out about our universe or something and that could have caused a black hole, but it didnt did it?

They said the same thing about dangers when X-ray machines were created, but they continued using it anyway.
Marie Curie died from radiation posioning soon afterward.
And what about the American atomic bombs set off on Hiroshima and Nagasaki?
They couldn't have predicted the huge amount of destruction this ''experimental'' bomb caused.
This is a similar situation, but with a black hole, how on earth can they assure it's safety?
History would suggest that they can't.
I'm going to get started crossing off things from my list of Things To Do Before I Die right now...
Starting with getting a tattoo.
I suggest you all do the same.

Re: Will the world end in 9 days time?
oh well... i dont believe it anyway, and even if it does happen then theres nothing i can really do to stop it so i may as well carry on living my life as normal!
''Scientists get death threats''
I found it quite amusing that people are actually making tearful phone calls
to the scientists responsible for the Hadron Collider, begging them to ''save my children''.
More info here:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/main.jhtml?xml=/earth/2008/09/05/scilhc105.xml
Also, there was an article about it in The Times today.
Is it all just scaremongering?

Re: Will the world end in 9 days time?
I just came across another even more strange article
suggesting the Hadron Collider could create ''time travel''.
''Time travellers from the future could be here in weeks''
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/main.jhtml?xml=/earth/2008/02/06/scitime106.xml
Cool, eh?
